RESUMO

The implementation of microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) with novel micro-structures and perfect performance is challenging due to the complex fabrication processes. Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) offer what we believe to be a new approach to solving complex partial differential equations within the virtual fabrication model of MOFs. This study, for what appears to be the first time, integrates the complex partial differential equations and boundary conditions describing the fiber drawing process into the loss function of a neural network. To more accurately solve the free boundary of the fiber's inner and outer diameters, we additionally construct a neural network to describe the free boundary conditions. This model not only captures the evolution of the fiber's inner and outer diameters but also provides the velocity distribution and pressure distribution within the molten glass, thus laying the foundation for a quantitative analysis of capillary collapse. Furthermore, results indicate that the trends in the effects of temperature, feed speed, and draw speed on the fiber drawing process align with actual fabrication conditions, validating the feasibility of the model. The methodology proposed in this study offers what we believe to be a novel approach to simulating the fiber drawing process and holds promise for advancing the practical applications of MOFs.

BACKGROUND: Postpartum women often experience stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and vaginal microbial dysbiosis, which seriously affect women's physical and mental health. Understanding the relationship between SUI and vaginal microbiota composition may help to prevent vaginal diseases, but research on the potential association between these conditions is limited. RESULTS: This study employed 16S rRNA gene sequencing to explore the association between SUI and vaginal dysbiosis. In terms of the vaginal microbiota, both species richness and evenness were significantly higher in the SUI group. Additionally, the results of NMDS and species composition indicated that there were differences in the composition of the vaginal microbiota between the two groups. Specifically, compared to postpartum women without SUI (Non-SUI), the relative abundance of bacteria associated with bacterial dysbiosis, such as Streptococcus, Prevotella, Dialister, and Veillonella, showed an increase, while the relative abundance of Lactobacillus decreased in SUI patients. Furthermore, the vaginal microbial co-occurrence network of SUI patients displayed higher connectivity, complexity, and clustering. CONCLUSION: The study highlights the role of Lactobacillus in maintaining vaginal microbial homeostasis. It found a correlation between SUI and vaginal microbiota, indicating an increased risk of vaginal dysbiosis. The findings could enhance our understanding of the relationship between SUI and vaginal dysbiosis in postpartum women, providing valuable insights for preventing bacterial vaginal diseases and improving women's health.

BACKGROUND: The oral cavity is home to various ecological niches, each with its own unique microbial composition. Understanding the microbial communities and gene composition in different ecological niches within the oral cavity of oral cancer (OC) patients is crucial for determining how these microbial populations contribute to disease progression. METHODS: In this study, saliva and dental plaque samples were collected from patients with OC. Metagenomic sequencing was employed to analyze the microbial community classification and functional composition of the different sample groups. RESULTS: The results of the study revealed significant differences in both the function and classification of microbial communities between saliva and dental plaque samples. The diversity of microbial species in saliva was found to be higher compared to  that in plaque samples. Notably, Actinobacteria were enriched in the dental plaque of OC patients. Furthermore, the study identified several inter-group differential marker species, including Prevotella intermedia, Haemophilus parahaemolyticus, Actinomyces radius, Corynebacterium matruchitii, and Veillonella atypica. Additionally, 1,353 differential genes were annotated into 23 functional pathways. Interestingly, a significant correlation was observed between differentially labeled species and Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection, which may be related to the occurrence and development of cancer. CONCLUSIONS: Significant differences in the microbial and genetic composition of saliva and dental plaque samples were observed in OC patients. Furthermore, pathogenic bacteria associated with oral diseases were predominantly enriched in saliva. The identification of inter-group differential biomarkers and pathways provide insights into the relationship between oral microbiota and the occurrence and development of OC.

BACKGROUND: Nuclear receptors (NRs) are vital for regulating gene expression un organisms. Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 (HNF4), a class of NRs, participates in blood feeding and intestinal maintenance in schistosomes. However, there is limited research on the molecular and functional characterization of HNF4 in Schistosoma japonicum (S. japonicum). METHODS: Highly specific polyclonal antibodies were generated to analyze the expression and tissue localization of S. japonicum HNF4 (SjHNF4). The potential biological functions of SjHNF4 were characterized by transcriptome and pull-down analysis. Subsequently, enrichment analysis was performed to identify the specific signaling pathways linked to SjHNF4. RESULTS: The SjHNF4 protein was expressed heterologously and purified successfully. High purity and high potency polyclonal antibodies were further prepared. The expression of SjHNF4 was higher in female compared to male worms at both transcriptional and protein levels. Female worms expressed SjHNF4 in their perithecium, reproductive system, and certain parts of the intestinal tissues. SjHNF4 was also detected in the perithecium of male worms, as well as in the head, body of cercaria, and eggs. Furthermore, our findings highlighted the potential role of SjHNF4 in blood feeding and its interaction with crucial pathways such as glucose metabolism, lipid metabolism, and nucleotide metabolism. CONCLUSIONS: This study shed light on the location of SjHNF4 in different life stages of S. japonicum, particularly associated with the female schistosomes. A strong correlation was observed between SjHNF4 and essential metabolic pathways. These findings laid a solid groundwork for the research on the relationship between NRs and schistosomes.

Trichoderma can enhance the metabolism of organophosphate pesticides in plants, but the mechanism is unclear. Here, we performed high-throughput transcriptome sequencing of roots upon Trichoderma asperellum (TM) inoculation and phoxim (P) application in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.). A total of 4059 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained, including 2110 up-regulated and 1949 down-regulated DEGs in P vs TM+P. COG and KOG analysis indicated that DEGs were mainly enriched in signal transduction mechanisms. We then focused on the pesticide detoxification pathway and screened out cytochrome P450 CYP736A12 as a putative gene for functional analysis. We suppressed the expression of CYP736A12 in tomato plants by virus-induced gene silencing and analyzed tissue-specific phoxim residues, oxidative stress markers, glutathione pool, GST activity and related gene expression. Silencing CYP736A12 significantly increased phoxim residue and induced oxidative stress in tomato plants, by attenuating the TM-induced increased activity of antioxidant and detoxification enzymes, redox homeostasis and transcripts of detoxification genes including CYP724B2, GSH1, GSH2, GR, GPX, GST1, GST2, GST3, and ABC. The study revealed a critical mechanism by which TM promotes the metabolism of phoxim in tomato roots, which can be useful for further understanding the Trichoderma-induced xenobiotic detoxification and improving food safety.

Schistosomiasis japonica is one of the neglected tropical diseases characterized by chronic hepatic, intestinal granulomatous inflammation and fibrosis, as well as dysbiosis of intestinal microbiome. Previously, the probiotic Bacillus amyloliquefaciens has been shown to alleviate the pathological injuries in mice infected with Schistosoma japonicum by improving the disturbance of the intestinal microbiota. However, the underlying mechanisms involved in this process remain unclear. In this study, metagenomics sequencing and functional analysis were employed to investigate the differential changes in taxonomic composition and functional genes of the intestinal microbiome in S. japonicum-infected mice treated with B. amyloliquefaciens. The results revealed that intervention with B. amyloliquefaciens altered the taxonomic composition of the intestinal microbiota at the species level in infected mice and significantly increased the abundance of beneficial bacteria. Moreover, the abundance of predicted genes in the intestinal microbiome was also significantly changed, and the abundance of xfp/xpk and genes translated to urease was significantly restored. Further analysis showed that Limosilactobacillus reuteri was positively correlated with several KEGG Orthology (KO) genes and metabolic reactions, which might play important roles in alleviating the pathological symptoms caused by S. japonicum infection, indicating that it has the potential to function as another effective therapeutic agent for schistosomiasis. These data suggested that treatment of murine schistosomiasis japonica by B. amyloliquefaciens might be induced by alterations in the taxonomic composition and functional gene of the intestinal microbiome in mice. We hope this study will provide adjuvant strategies and methods for the early prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis japonica. IMPORTANCE: Targeted interventions of probiotics on gut microbiome were used to explore the mechanism of alleviating schistosomiasis japonica. Through metagenomic analysis, there were significant changes in the composition of gut microbiota in mice infected with Schistosoma japonicum and significant increase in the abundance of beneficial bacteria after the intervention of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. At the same time, the abundance of functional genes was found to change significantly. The abundance of genes related to urease metabolism and xfp/xpk related to D-erythrose 4-phosphate production was significantly restored, highlighting the importance of Limosilactobacillus reuteri in the recovery and abundance of predicted genes of the gut microbiome. These results indicated potential regulatory mechanism between the gene function of gut microbiome and host immune response. Our research lays the foundation for elucidating the regulatory mechanism of probiotic intervention in alleviating schistosomiasis japonica, and provides potential adjuvant treatment strategies for early prevention and treatment of schistosomiasis japonica.

Promoting rumen development is closely related to the health and efficient growth of ruminants. The transcriptional co-activators Yes1-associated protein (YAP1) and WW domain-containing transcription regulator protein 1 (TAZ) are key regulators of the mammalian epithelium. In the present study, we assessed the impact of YAP1/TAZ on rumen epithelial (RE) cell proliferation using their activator GA-017 (GA) and inhibitor verteporfin (VP). We also investigated whether YAP1/TAZ-dependent alteration was involved in the RE developmental process induced by sodium butyrate (SB). The results indicated that GA promoted RE cell proliferation, while VP disrupted RE cell proliferation. The Hippo, Wnt, and calcium signaling pathways were altered following the regulation of YAP1/TAZ. Upon YAP1/TAZ activation, the expression of CCN1/2 increased. However, when YAP1/TAZ was inhibited, the expression of BIRC3 decreased. In the SB-treated cells, YAP1/TAZ-induced changes were not observed. SB increased the expressions of differentiated cell marker genes and genes involved in short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) metabolism, while YAP1/TAZ did not. Thus, YAP1/TAZ could be potential targets for regulating RE cell proliferation but not for SCFA metabolism. SB could not affect YAP1/TAZ. These findings broaden our understanding of the role of YAP1/TAZ and their regulators in RE development.

The development of micro/nanorobots and their application in medical treatment holds the promise of revolutionizing disease diagnosis and treatment. In comparison to conventional diagnostic and treatment methods, micro/nanorobots exhibit immense potential due to their small size and the ability to penetrate deep tissues. However, the transition of this technology from the laboratory to clinical applications presents significant challenges. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the research progress in micro/nanorobotics, encompassing biosensors, diagnostics, targeted drug delivery, and minimally invasive surgery. It also addresses the key issues and challenges facing this technology. The fusion of micro/nanorobots with medical treatments is poised to have a profound impact on the future of medicine.

BACKGROUND: Age-related blepharoptosis, or ptosis, affects vision and appearance. Associations with age, gender, BMI, and diabetes have been explored, but the link to blood lipids remains unclear. The impact on refraction also lacks consensus. This study addresses gaps by investigating ptosis prevalence and factors in a representative Chinese population, aiming for a comprehensive understanding. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among individuals aged 50 and above who were willing to participate in comprehensive systemic check-ups, behavioral questionnaires, and ophthalmic examinations at Yaoxi Community Health Center in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. RESULTS: The prevalence of blepharoptosis among the elderly participants at this health center was 27.16%. Individuals with blepharoptosis tended to be older, male, exhibited slightly higher body mass index, wider waist circumference, engaged in lower exercise frequency, and had a higher prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, and with-the-rule astigmatism compared to their counterparts without these conditions. Adjusting for all other confounding variables, older age, being male, higher fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and lower exercise frequency displayed statistically significant relationships with blepharoptosis. After examining the distribution of blepharoptosis degrees within relevant factor subgroups, we noted a higher prevalence of severe ptosis in subgroups associated with older age, male gender, higher FPG, and against-the-rule astigmatism. CONCLUSION: The notable associations with age, gender, FPG, and exercise level suggest a multifactorial etiology for blepharoptosis. The observed link between with-the-rule astigmatism and blepharoptosis implies a potential contributory role in the refractive aspect of blepharoptosis. Background: Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a subtype of stroke leading to high rates of morbidity and mortality in adults. Recent studies showed that immune and inflammatory responses might play essential roles in secondary brain injury. The purpose of this article was to provide a reference for further therapeutic strategies for ICH patients. Methods: GSE206971 and GSE216607 datasets from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database were used to screen the highly immune-related differentally expressed genes (IRDEGs). We used the CIBERSORT algorithm to assess the level of immune signatures infiltration and got the possible function of IRDEGs which was analyzed through Gene Ontology (GO) analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks and six hub genes were identified in the Cytoscape plug-in. GSVA algorithm was performed to evaluate the potential pathways of six hub genes in ICH samples. The expression level of IL-7R chosen from six hub genes was further validated by Western blotting. The cell models of ICH were established for the research of IL-7/IL-7R signaling way. Results: A total of six hub genes (ITGAX, ITGAM, CCR2, CD28, SELL, and IL-7R) were identified. IL-7R was highly expressed in the mice ICH group, as shown by immunoblotting. Next, we constructed ICH cell models in RAW264.7 cells and BV2 cells. After treatment with IL-7, iNOS expression (M1 marker) was greatly inhibited while Arg-1(M2 marker) was enhanced, and it might function via the JAK3/STAT5 signaling pathway. Conclusion: The hypothesis is proposed that the IL-7/IL-7R signaling pathway might regulate the inflammatory process following ICH by regulating microglia polarization. Our study is limited and requires more in-depth experimental confirmation.

BACKGROUND: The liver ranks as the sixth most prevalent site of primary cancer in humans, and it frequently experiences metastases from cancers originating in other organs. To facilitate the development of effective treatments and improve survival rates, it is crucial to comprehend the intricate and diverse transcriptome landscape of primary and metastatic liver cancers. METHODS: We conducted long-read isoform sequencing and short-read RNA sequencing using a cohort of 95 patients with primary and secondary liver cancer who underwent hepatic resection. We compared the transcriptome landscapes of primary and metastatic liver cancers and systematically investigated hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), paired primary tumours and liver metastases, and matched nontumour liver tissues. RESULTS: We elucidated the full-length isoform-level transcriptome of primary and metastatic liver cancers in humans. Our analysis revealed isoform-level diversity in HCC and identified transcriptome variations associated with liver metastatis. Specific RNA transcripts and isoform switching events with clinical implications were profound in liver cancer. Moreover, we defined metastasis-specific transcripts that may serve as predictors of risk of metastasis. Additionally, we observed abnormalities in adjacent paracancerous liver tissues and characterized the immunological and metabolic alterations occurring in the liver. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings underscore the power of full-length transcriptome profiling in providing novel biological insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying tumourigenesis. These insights will further contribute to improving treatment strategies for primary and metastatic liver cancers.

The dense conventional combined support hardly controls the overall subsidence of the roadway roof in extra-thick coal seam and affects the excavation efficiency, leading to the technical problem of mining proportion imbalance in the mine. In this study, the typical mining roadway with extra-thick coal seams in the Yanzhou mining area was taken as the engineering background, the roof stress distribution of the development face during the extra-thick coal seam mining was simulated, the deformation and failure characteristics of the roof at different layers under different thicknesses of the top coal were analyzed, and the progressive fragmentation and discontinuous deformation and failure mechanism of the top coal were revealed. Furthermore, the reinforced support technique of the thick anchorage and high preload in roof was put forward,and the reinforced technique was successful applied in the typical roadway in of Baodian Coal Mine, the experimental results showed that the fracture damage of the top coal in the mining roadway was effectively controlled, the deformation of the surrounding rock under the proposed support scheme was reduced by 40 %-50 % and the excavation speed was increased by 33 %.

BACKGROUND: Sex differences in health status and life expectancy are widely accepted to exist. The mechanisms underlying it are still poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to clarify the influences and contributions of sex on the gut microbiome in healthy centenarians and to explore the different roles played by the gut microbiome in healthy aging between the sexes. RESULTS: Taking covariates of different dimensions into account (social demographics, anthropometry, the activities of daily living, dietary structure, mental state, blood tests, lifestyle and disease history), our data showed that sex was one of the most significant covariates affecting the gut microbiome of healthy centenarians at both the species and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes Orthology (KO) levels. The beta diversity between the sexes were significantly different (Adonis test: p = 0.011, R2 = 0.031), and the male centenarians had a greater alpha diversity than the females (Simpson and Shannon test: P<0.05). At the species level, we identified 31 species enriched in males and 7 species enriched in females. The composition and function patterns of the microbiome varied between the sexes. Further functional analysis showed that males' gut microbiome exhibited greater resistance to oxidative stress compared to females. In contrast to men, the species associated with healthy aging dominated among healthy female centenarians, while the species associated with unhealthy aging were relatively rare. CONCLUSIONS: The present study reveals that the gut microbiome structure and resistance to oxidative stress in healthy centenarians differ between the sexes and provides new insights into the possible sex-specific role of the gut microbiome in healthy aging.

Enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) is an effective process for phosphorus removal from wastewater. In this study, two lab-scale sequencing batch reactors (SBR) were used to perform EBPR process, in which genus Propioniciclava was unexpectedly accumulated and its relative abundance was over 70 %. A series of tests were conducted to explore the role of Propioniciclava in the two EBPR systems. The two systems performed steadily throughout the study, and the phosphorus removal efficiencies were 96.6 % and 93.5 % for SBR1 and SBR2, respectively. The stoichiometric analysis related to polyphosphate accumulating organisms (PAOs) indicated that polyphosphate accumulating metabolism (PAM) was achieved in the anaerobic phase. It appeared that the Propioniciclava-dominated systems could not perform denitrifying phosphorus removal. Instead, phosphorus was released under anoxic conditions without carbon sources. According to the genomic information from Integrated Microbial Genomes (IMG) database, Propioniciclava owns ppk1, ppk2 and ppx genes that are associated with phosphorus release and uptake functions. By phylogenetic investigation of communities by reconstruction of unobserved states 2 (PICRUSt2) analysis, the abundance of genes related to phosphorus metabolism was much higher than that of genes related to denitrification. Therefore, Propioniciclava was presumed to be a potential PAO without denitrifying phosphorus uptake function. In addition to Propioniciclava, Tessaracoccus and Thiothrix were also enriched in both systems. Overall, this study proposes a novel potential PAO and broadens the understanding of EBPR microbial communities.

OBJECTIVES: To develop a sensitive point-of-care testing (POCT) aqueous vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) detection system, and assess its role for predicting the response to anti-VEGF treatment in macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO-ME) patients. METHODS: An automatic point-of-care aqueous humor Magnetic Particle Chemiluminescence Enzyme Immuno-Assay (MPCLEIA) VEGF detection system was developed. The predictive values of aqueous cytokine levels, in combination with imaging parameters, on anatomical treatment response (ATR, the relative central macular thickness change [ΔCMT/bl-CMT]) were analyzed. RESULTS: The automatic MPCLEIA system was able to provide results in 45 min with only 20 µL sample. Among the 57 eyes with available pre- and post-treatment evaluation, ATR significantly correlated with levels of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and VEGF measured by Luminex xMAP platform, and VEGF measured by MPCLEIA. Optimal cut-off values for these biomarkers were 13.26 ng/L, 23.57 ng/L, 1,110.12 ng/L, 105.52 ng/L, and 85.39 ng/L, respectively. Univariate analysis showed significant associations between ATR category (good response if ATR≤-25 % or poor response otherwise) and IL-6, IL-8, MCP-1, VEGF-xMAP, and VEGF-MPCLEIA (p<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression revealed that ATR category was significantly associated with aqueous VEGF-MPCLEIA (p=0.006) and baseline(bl)-CMT (p=0.008). Receiver operating characteristics analysis yielded an AUC of 0.959 for the regression model combining VEGF-MPCLEIA and bl-CMT, for predicting ATR category. CONCLUSIONS: Our novel MPCLEIA-based automatic VEGF detection system enables accurate POCT of aqueous VEGF, which shows promise in predicting the treatment response of RVO-ME to anti-VEGF agents when combined with bl-CMT.

Piezoelectric thin films grown on a mechanical, flexible mica substrate have gained significant attention for their ability to convert mechanical deformation into electrical energy though a curved surface. To extract the generated charge from the PZT thin films, bottom electrodes are typically grown on mica substrates. However, this bottom electrode also serves as a buffering layer for the growth of PZT films, and its impact on the piezoelectric properties of PZT thin films remains understudied. In this work, the effect of Pt and LaNiO3 bottom electrodes on the piezoelectric effect of a Pb(Zr0.52,Ti0.48)O3 thin film was investigated. It was observed that the PZT thin films on LNO/Mica substrate possessed weaker stress, stronger (100) preferred orientation, and higher remanent polarization, which is beneficial for a higher piezoelectric response theoretically. However, due to insufficient grain growth resulting in more inactive grain boundaries and lattice imperfections, the piezoelectric coefficient of the PZT thin film on LNO/Mica was smaller than that of the PZT thin film on a Pt/Mica substrate. Therefore, it is concluded that, under the current experimental conditions, PZT films grown with Pt as the bottom electrode are better suited for applications in flexible piezoelectric sensor devices. However, when using LNO as the bottom electrode, it is possible to optimize the grain size of PZT films by adjusting the sample preparation process to achieve piezoelectric performance exceeding that of the PZT/Pt/Mica samples.

Ionogels have attracted tremendous interest for flexible electronics due to their excellent deformability, conductivity, and environmental stability. However, most ionogels suffer from low strength and poor toughness, which limit their practical applications. This article presents a strategy for fabricating ionogels with high toughness by constructing high-density hydrogen bonds within their microstructure. The ionogels exhibit a maximum fracture strength of 11.44 MPa, and can sustain a fracture strain of 506%. They also demonstrate a fracture energy of 27.29 MJ m-3 and offer a wide range of mechanical property adjustments (fracture stress from 0.3 to 11.44 MPa, fracture strain from 506% to 1050%). Strain sensors assembled with ionogels demonstrate exceptional sensing performance and enable motion detection of human joints. This study provides a new approach for achieving strong and tough ionogel design used for high-performance flexible electronic applications.

BACKGROUND: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder with an incidence of approximately 1 in 5000 in the general population. It is characterized by vasodilation, which affects specific organs, such as the skin, mucous membranes, brain, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, liver, and others. However, HHT rarely involves the portal venous system to cause serious clinical complications. CASE SUMMARY: A 68-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department due to four consecutive days of abdominal pain and bloody stool and was subsequently diagnosed with HHT. Computed tomography angiography confirmed the presence of an arteriovenous fistula (AVFs). Considering this specific manifestation, whole exome sequencing was performed. After a comprehensive evaluation, a selective superior mesenteric artery embolization was prioritized to avoid intestinal ischemia. The postoperative symptoms of the patient were quickly relieved. Unfortunately, two months post-procedure the patient died from intestinal necrosis and abdominal infection related to remaining AVFs. CONCLUSION: For patients with diffuse superior mesenteric AVFs, selective mesenteric arterial embolization may lead to positive short-term outcomes.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries are practically plagued by the short lifespan and low Coulombic efficiency (CE) of Zn anodes resulting from random dendrite deposition and parasitic reactions. Herein, the host-guest chemistry of cucurbituril additive with Zn2+ to achieve longstanding Zn anodes is manipulated. The macrocyclic molecule of cucurbit[5]uril (CB[5]) is delicately designed to reconstruct both the CB[5]-adsorbed electric-double layer (EDL) structure at the Zn interface and the hydrated sheath of Zn2+ ions. Especially benefiting from the desirable carbonyl rims and suitable hydrophobic cavities, the CB[5] has a strong host-guest interaction with Zn2+ ions, which exclusively permits rapid Zn2+ flux across the EDL interface but retards the H2 O radicals and SO4 2- . Accordingly, such a unique particle redistributor warrants long-lasting dendrite-free deposition by homogenizing Zn nucleation/growth and significantly improved CE by inhibiting side reactions. The Zn anode can deliver superior reversibility in CB[5]-containing electrolyte with a ninefold increase of cycle lifetime and an elevated CE of 99.7% under harsh test conditions (10 mA cm-2 /10 mA h cm-2 ). The work opens a new avenue from the perspective of host-guest chemistry to propel the development of rechargeable Zn metal batteries and beyond.

Introduction: Anxious individuals selectively attend to threatening information, but it remains unclear whether attentional bias can be generalized to traumatic events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Previous studies suggested that specific threats related to personal experiences can elicit stronger attentional bias than general threats. The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between content-specific attentional bias and trait anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Attentional bias was assessed using the dot-probe task with COVID-19-related, general threat-related, and neutral words at two exposure times, 200 and 500 ms. Results: We found participants with high trait anxiety exhibited attentional bias toward COVID-19- related stimuli and attentional bias away from general threat-related stimuli, while participants with low trait anxiety showed attentional bias away from both types of stimuli. Discussion: Results suggest that individuals with high trait anxiety show a content-specific attentional bias to COVID-19-related information during the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from the innate attentional bias toward biological threats, individuals with high trait anxiety may also learn from trauma and develop trauma-specific attentional bias.
